Compositions:

General Information

•Omeprazole belongs to class of medications called proton pump inhibitors. It blocks the activity of the proton pumps in the stomach wall that produce acid, thereby reducing the amount of acid produced in the stomach.
• Omeprazole is used to treat frequent persistent heartburn, gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD; flow of bitter fluid into mouth, and upper abdominal/ epigastric pain); and other diseases caused by excessive stomach acid. It is also used to help in the healing of the food pipe (esophagus) when it gets damaged by excessive stomach acid ( erosive esophagitis).
• It comes as a tablet and capsule to take by mouth, before food. PO- The recommended adult oral dose is 20 mg once daily.
• It should not be given along with an HIV drug called nelfinavir and drug used for prevention of heart attack and stroke (hemiplegia) e.g. clopidogrel.
• Take omeprazole tablets one hour before a meal. Do not chew or crush the tablets because the tablets are coated with enteric coating which stops the medicine from being broken down by the acid in your stomach. It is important not to damage the tablets. When using Omeprazole long-term, take a calcium with vitamin D supplement daily to prevent bone loss. Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for a forgotten dose.
• Do not take omeprazole if you are allergic to it.
•Category C : Animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks.

General Information

•Domperidone works primarily by blocking dopamine receptors found in the upper end of the digestive system. This causes tightening of the muscles at the entry to the stomach, relaxation of the muscles at the exit of the stomach and increased contraction of the muscles in the stomach itself. These actions speed up the passage of food through the stomach into the intestine, which physically helps prevent vomiting and reduces feelings of sickness, bloating and fullness. It also prevents food from flowing the wrong way through the stomach and so prevents reflux (regurgitation of the stomach contents back into the foodpipe). Domperidone also blocks dopamine receptors found in an area of the brain known as the chemoreceptor trigger zone (CTZ). The CTZ is activated by nerve messages from the stomach when an irritant is present. It is also activated directly by agents circulating in the blood, for example chemotherapy medicines. Once activated, it sends messages to another area of the brain, the vomiting centre, which in turn sends messages to the gut, causing the vomiting reflex. Blocking the dopamine receptors in the CTZ prevents nausea messages from being sent to the vomiting centre. This reduces the sensation of nausea and prevents vomiting.
• Domperidone is used to treat nausea and vomiting.
• Do not crush, chew, or break an extended-release tablet or delayed-release tablet. Swallow it whole.
• Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: history of breast cancer, allergies. Limit your intake of alcoholic .
